Holiday Diet Challenges - 9 Tips To Survive This Season

By: Cindy Lewis,

The holidays are the most festive time of the year but they can also be highly stressful if you are watching your diet or trying to lose weight. How can we avoid gaining extra fat while still experiencing a great time this season? You can enjoy the celebration to its fullest and not worry about guilt on Monday if you follow just a few simple ideas.

Don't wait until the big meal to eat. It's understandable to save room for your favorite holiday dishes but starving yourself until the big feast is the last thing that you want to do.

You should enjoy eating sensible snacks to maintain your metabolism. Also, not being famished lowers the chances of your going overboard. It is best to avoid eating too much when dinner is finally served.

Try leaning toward grains and high fiber carbohydrates such as brown rice, wheat breads and wheat flour pasta. Fiber rich foods tend to give most people a full feeling earlier than the same or larger quantity of white flour alternatives. Consider higher protein cottage cheese over sour cream for your potato. No, you don't have to live without the butter but it may benefit your waste line if you do.

Drink plenty of water. It is always important to stay well hydrated. But, when celebrating especially, water replenishes and counters the dehydrating effects of the caffeinated or adult beverages we may have enjoyed.

Drinking enough water also can help us to not stuff ourselves with high calorie foods.......

The Corners We Don't Mind Cutting

By: Charles Burke,

It happens fairly often.

About one customer in 50 steals from me.

But I'm not alone. Virtually every person I know who sells information products says they have the same experience.

No matter how good your product, no matter how much value you pile on, about two percent of your customers will order your product, download it, then immediately request a refund. And usually there's only a delay of a few minutes between download and refund demand.

"Sorry this isn't what I expected."

"I didn't find anything new in your book."
"I was curious, but it didn't meet my expectations."

"It wasn't worth the money."

And my all-time favorite: "Give me a refund, then eat **** and die."

I think of them as "professional refunders." But some of my friends aren't that polite -- thieves they call 'em.

Now I'm not talking about the occasional person who reads a book thoughtfully and truly does find it lacking. This happens; nobody's writing style is a perfect fit for every reader, not even mine. But these cases account for only about half my refunds, and most other info marketers find the proportion is about the same.

Do I resent these thieves? I used to. When I first began selling online, the first few refunds were a slap in the face to me.

Now, however, I just feel sorry for these people........

Taking A Cruise: Make It A Family Affair

By: Kirsten Hawkins,

This past year, more than one million youngsters under the age of 18 years old sailed on Cruise Lines International Association ships. Young people make up a large portion of your fellow passengers when you take a cruise ship vacation. Kids on vacation period, especially if they are not your own, can really can drag down on the fun.

Of course, you probably want to take the kids along with you on your vacation. They can add to the fun if you take care of things right, and cruises are a great time to spend time with your children, especially if you work or go to school and so do they. Keep in mind though that if you were on a child-free vacation you wouldn't want somebody else's children running amok, being loud or rowdy, ruining the fun of those who aren't involved in their rowdiness. Have enough respect for your fellow passengers/cruisers, as well as the ship's crew, to keep your children under control.

Easier said than done, right? Let's go over a few ideas on how to keep your children under control and make your cruise one of, if not your most, memorable family vacation ever.

The biggest and most important tip of all is not to take your kids on a cruise they will not enjoy! Idleness leads to rowdiness and mischievous, often uncontrollable behavior. Many cruise ships, especially those on the Carnival Cruise line, offer kid-friendly "Fun Ships" that have entire itineraries dedicated to keeping your little ones out of your hair and the hair of your fellow cruisers.

Who Is Deciding How You Will React To Your Feelings?

By: John Halderman,

Are your emotional reactions automatic or on purpose?

Are you frustrated with how you continue to react the same way every time a specific situation or feeling comes up?

Have you desired less stress and anxiety in your life, and more pleasure and happiness? If you had a choice, would you choose anger, resentment, fear, worry, and jealousy to be a consistent part of your life?

More likely, I think you want more happiness, joy, fulfillment, understanding, and love to be present.Well, you can choose, you can change yourself one small step at a time in all areas of your life if you choose to. Your personal growth is up to you; you can cease allowing your automatic reactions to guide your life. You can react to your feelings any way that you want?

CHANGING HOW YOU REACT TO A FEELING

Just because you have reacted in a certain way does not mean you must continue to do so. You can actually change your reaction any time you choose. We all react to the specific feelings that come up when something occurs. And how we react is based on how we perceive the occurrence. If you can change the way you perceive something, you change your reaction to it. And changing your reaction will alter the outcome of your feelings and actions.

NOTICE, ASSESS AND CHANGE

The first thing is to just notice how you are reacting to a given feeling........

Work From Home - Fun With Telemarketers

By: Elaine Currie,

During the time I have spent working at home, I have encountered many telemarketers. That's how I found out about their radar: when I went out to work telemarketers always rang in the evening while I was trying to cook or eat dinner, now they ring during the day when I am trying to work at home.

A joke that arrived in my email made me realise that I am not alone in being less than fond of telemarketers. (In fact, they are on my list right up with lawyers and estate agents.) I'll be sharing a few tips from this joke with you throughout this article but, if you want to read all 20 of them, you can see them at my website on the same page as this article.

I can usually identify telemarketers immediately because they will almost inevitably open with "Good morning, madam. How are you today?" Nobody but a telemarketer would dream of ringing a person and addressing her as "madam". Presumably that is a marketing technique which is supposed to give the illusion that you are the customer and the telemarketer is there to serve you but it just gives me the idea that I should have let the answering machine pick up this call. The tip for circumventing the whole thing is:- As soon as you realize it is a Telemarketer, scream "Oh my God!" and then hang up.

It took me quite a while to get to grips with the constant annoyance of telemarketing calls. I was brought up to be polite but I eventually discovered it is impossible to get rid of telemarketers without resorting to rudeness. I don't ask these people to ring me up and try to sell me things I don't want: everything from jigsaw puzzles and books, through lingerie and cinema tickets to health insurance and mobility aids. As I (thankfully) am and always have been fully mobile, I don't understand the reason for the last one.........

Broken Trust!

By: Dorothy,

BROKEN TRUST......ever been there?

BROKEN TRUST......ever spent sleepless nights because of it?

BROKEN TRUST......ever felt your stomach eat itself through the lining?
BROKEN TRUST......ever been so confused with what is real and what is not ?
BROKEN TRUST......ever feel like your entire world has just turned upside down?
BROKEN TRUST......ever feel like dieing?

If you have been there so to speak, then you know what it means to suffer from a trust betrayal, or BROKEN TRUST. For lack of a better word. It just plain SUX!I want to say that we need to experience a broken trust in order to really be able to feel an unbroken trust, but this is not so. There are some experiences in life that no one deserves and dealing with a BROKEN TRUST is certainly one of the top ten.

Some people go through their lives never experiencing the feelings of betrayal or deception or a BROKEN TRUST. For them life is always good and on an even keel. They cannot even imagine what others, that have had even one of those experiences, is feeling or trying to explain.

Have you ever just been totally blinded by your affection with another that you over look every warning sign.? Have you caught a glimpse of a warning sign, and when confronting your partner about it, you believe them after some discussion, but still have a lingering feeling of doubt? Have you ever came upon warning signs that are as real as your hand and when you tried to question them about it, you were made to feel like you were doing something wrong even thinking that they had anything to do with it, yet in your guts you could not feel that you were wrong?

How I Get Hundreds Of Daily Website Visitors For Free

By: Louis Allport

Know about "Viral eBooks"

It's not a new concept I'll admit, but it works like absolute gangbusters. In fact, over the past three years it has personally been responsible for bringing me hundreds of thousands of visitors to just one of my websites.

AND - 100% for free.

Getting traffic with Viral eBooks is a "free traffic tactic", which means you're not paying for advertising. But, because you're not paying for this exposure, you need to instead create content that people WANT to pass on.This takes effort, but if you do it right, it can pay you back hugely.

Let's go through it:

Okay - for starters you can create Viral eBooks in two formats:

EXE (executable) format - which means it only works on PC's. This type of eBook looks like a website packaged together. These types of eBooks look great, and all someone has to do to view it is download and double-click it. But, as mentioned it does only work on PC's, and generally the software to create these types of eBooks isn't free, although it is very affordable. (I personally use the software from eBookCompiler.com which as I write this retails for around $30.)

Alternatively - you can create and distribute Viral eBooks in the hugely popular PDF format. The advantage of PDF is that everyone can read them successfully whether they're viewing your eBook on PC, Mac or "other".

To read PDF successfully, the person who downloaded the eBook needs to have the free Adobe Reader installed on their computer. Most people do, and if they don’t it's a quick download from Adobe.com, so this isn't an issue.

Although PDF’s can be more widely read that EXE style eBooks, they’re not quite as flexible. With EXE's for example you can actually embed video and audio into the eBook. This isn't possible with PDF. With PDF you would need to instead include a link to where the reader can view or download the audio/video online.

So with this in mind, you need to decide what's most important to you and make your choice accordingly for eBook format. I personally don't recommended you create your eBook in both formats, since that just complicates the distribution process in my experience. Stick with one or the other.

For creating Viral PDF's - there's a wide array of software that allows you to create PDF's. Some of this software is free, some mind-bogglingly expensive. To view many available options, simply search Download.com or Tucows.com.For creating Viral PDF's, I personally use software that I had specially created. And the advantage of my software is that it allows you to easily create fully *brandable* PDF's. This means that people can customize your PDF with their own affiliate or website details...........

Intelligent Design On Another Planet?

By: B.G. Ranganathan,

Imagine finding a planet where robots are programmed so that they can make other robots just like themselves from raw materials.

Now, imagine an alien visitor coming to the planet and, after many years of studying these robots, coming to the conclusion that since science can explain how these robots work and function there's no reason to believe that there was an ultimate intelligent designer behind them.

The analogy above certainly is not perfect but it is sufficient to reveal the fallacious thinking of those who attack intelligent design behind life and the universe. Chance physical processes can produce some level of order but it is not rational to believe that the highest levels of order in life and the universe are by chance. For example, amino acids have been shown to be able to come into existence by chance but not more complex structures such as proteins which require that the various amino acids be in a precise sequence, just like the letters in a sentence. A single cell has millions of proteins.

There is no innate chemical tendency for amino acids to bond with one another in a sequence. Any one amino acid can just as easily bond with any other. The only reason at all for why the various amino acids bond with one another in a precise sequence in the cells of our bodies is because they're directed to do so by an already existing sequence of molecules in our genetic code. Without being in a proper sequence protein molecules will not function.

If the cell had evolved it would have had to be all at once. A partially evolved cell cannot wait millions of years to become complete because it would be highly unstable and quickly disintegrate in the open environment.

The great British scientist Sir Frederick Hoyle has said that the probability of the sequence of molecules in the simplest cell coming into existence by chance is equivalent to a tornado going through a junk yard of airplane parts and assembling a 747 Jumbo Jet!

Create Pretty Recycled Notepads From Junk!

By: Lindsay Small,

This is how to turn brown paper, paper bags and any other paper scraps into cute and useful notepads and scribble pads. It is simple to do, so even little children can help! They make great little presents and if you start to save your paper now, you will have a good collection in no time. Set aside a box for collecting half-printed pages from the desk, paper shopping bags, scraps of pretty wrapping paper or wallpaper samples, and put them to good use!

You will need:
A pile of scrap paper
Scissors
Scrap cardboard
PVA glue (white glue or school glue)

Decide on the size of your notebook and cut a piece of cardboard as the backing. Use this to cut out a number of pages for your notebook. You can mix and match papers and textures or stick to one kind. Stack them up with the cardboard underneath, bang them gently onto a hard surface so that they lie true, and then put them flat on a table or counter with the top edge protruding slightly over the edge.

Weight the stack down with a heavy book but leave the top edge uncovered. Paint along the top of the stack with the PVA glue, making sure that all the pages come into contact with some glue (a finger comes in handy for this!). Leave to dry.

The notepads are now ready to use, but you may prefer to embellish them a little - especially if you intend to give them as gifts. Try painting on an extra thin layer of glue and dipping into glitter. Use a small piece of ribbon or braid along the top edge, stick on buttons and bows, or just use an attractive piece of gift wrap as the top page and finish by adding a further, folded strip of the same paper to neaten. The possibilities are endless and you will have fun experimenting.
